Desiree is a Gender and Sustainable Infrastructure Consultant with a Master’s Degree in Gender Studies from Berlin’s Humboldt University. She has over ten years of high level stakeholder management experience across private, non-profit and public sectors, with a focus on fragile and development contexts on the African continent. Having worked with global organizations such as the IFC, the World Food Programme, IFAD and GIZ, she holds senior-level expertise in social performance management, women’s economic and political empowerment as well as gender-based violence prevention and response.

Ms Zwanck has experience managing projects focused on food security, rural resilience and climate change with up to 10 Mio US$ budgets funded by donors such as the Green Climate Fund, USAID and the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). She is also a member of the Inter-Agency Standing Commitee’s Roster of Gender experts GenCap.

As an expert for gender-transformative institutional change, Ms Zwanck’s core competencies include gender analysis, policy and strategy development, project management, impact assessments as well as tool and training development. She is specifically keen on smart approaches to financial and value chain inclusion and on harnessing the power of private sector engagement for transformative and sustainable change.

Her experience is rounded out by her language skills including fluency in German, English and French, with intermediary skills in Kiswahili and Spanish.
