Safeguards Assessment and Management Framework in Guyana

The objective of this assignment was to assess the potential social and environmental impacts of the proposed REDD+ activities; and to develop an ESMF, in line with Guyana’s emerging national REDD+ Strategy. The SESA and ESMF were designed to be compatible with UNFCCC and FCPF requirements and take national circumstances into account, following the principles of transparency, completeness, consistency, comparability and applicability ensuring robust consultations with key stakeholders.

Climate Law and Policy, lead the development of the SESA and the Environmental and Social Management Framework [ESMF], while Winrock International lead the development of the REDD+ Strategy.
