Jurisdictional Technical Assistance Programme

JTAP is a collaboration among global REDD+ leaders: Conservation International (CI); Climate Law & Policy (CL&P); Environmental Defense Fund (EDF); Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS); and Winrock International’s Ecosystem Services Unit (Winrock). These partners have deep collective expertise in design and implementation of REDD+ programs, with a unique combination of global reach and boots-on-ground experience.

In December 2023, JTAP was announced at COP29 in Dubai with the support of the Forests & Climate Leaders Partnership, the world’s premier platform for high-ambition government leadership on tropical forest conservation.

Over the next 10 years, the JTAP aims to catalyze tropical forest conservation and finance by supporting governments and their key partners—Indigenous Peoples (IP), local communities (LC), Afro-descendants (AD), and others—to participate equitably in the highest integrity voluntary carbon markets.

JTAP aspires to empower a significant proportion of tropical forest jurisdictions to implement high-integrity J-REDD+ programs and issue J-REDD credits issuance by 2030. Achieving this goal has the potential to unlock billions in finance for nature, protect hundreds of millions of hectares of forest, and bolster the rights and resources of Indigenous Peoples and local communities on an unprecedented scale.
